“This has to be one of the most common subject what it comes to carp safty.

So do you thing that if a lake has a ban on lead core leaders for carp safty because people are not using them in the right way would it not be worth them sell there own lead core leaders that they have made and see as safe or as safe as they can get them or still have the ban.”

“Yeah.. i reckon thats a blinding idea. i agree

Personally, I always use lead core (where allowed) and back leads as i tend to fish quite hard waters, where pinning your lines down is important.

I also find it quite annoying when lakes dont let you use lead core, but i can understand their concerns.

If lead core is not set up with safety in mind, then it can be dangerous, and in worst case scenarios can lead to snapped off fish being tethere to underwater snags and features.

Anyway, a top idea me thinks... and perhaps its worth us carp anglers putting this idea to some of the fisheries where its not allowed. nod

“i think its worth putting to the fisheries to. That way us as carp anglers cant then be shot for using unsafe lead core leaders cuz they have sold it. They should then come round to look at your set up and rigs to make sure its how the sold it i konw that its alot of work just so people can use lead core but it would solve alot of blame. Im not say they are wrong for the ban its just a thought i had last night but i to can see there concerns because i worry even tho i know that the lead core im using is as safe as it can be.”

“I use lead core where I can... But can understand that some fisheries ban it. Especially fisheries that encourage beginers.

I have fished a lake that came and checked our rigs before being allowed to cast in.... Seems like a good idea if they are to allow lead core.”

“i think that to encourage beginers in using safe rigs they need to use lead core at an early stage inorder to know what safe and whats not its ok seeing it in the mag but you still dont get the jist without seeing it in your hand. This way they konw from the start and not when its to late and already done the damage to fish by trying to lurn on the bank. Or they could go with some 1 that knows what they are doing with lead core.”

“Yeah, i think there is a bit of a stigma attached to leadcore, unnecessarily. Some anglers turn their noses up as soon as you mention the words lead and core together.

Personally, i think thats a little ignorant, since it can be perfectly safe if its set up properly.

So back to your point, i think the cause of this is purely a lack of education, so your idea of teaching youngsters to set it up properly and hence safely is a good one smiley.”
